Imagine: a plateau grazed by llamas... surrounded by majestic Andean condors... plains covered with dense, pristine forests... a precious habitat for unique and rare plants and animals.
This was a Bolivian reality over 100 years ago.
Sadly, the once wild and lush jungle was almost completely destroyed by deforestation and fire, and thus the great biological diversity nearly vanished, along with the majestic condors and carefree llamas.
But that's not all. The impact of the destruction reached even further and affects the ability of the forest to collect and absorb rainwater. In the rainy season, the slopes turn into deadly mudslides that cost people their lives and livelihoods every year. Conversely, in the summer time, the fields of the peasants become so dry that people starve due to the lack of harvest.
This is why Naturefund started a Reforestation Project with the Bolivian peasants in 2014. Since then, we have been able to plant 15,000 trees from the well-appreciated contributions of our Members and supporters.
We are currently in the third phase of the Project, in which we plan to plant another 25,000.
(Naturefund supports the smallholders to switch to "Dynamic Agroforestry." With this method, barren soils can be reforested and at the same time farmers can grow their food there. In the first 2 to 3 months, smallholder farmers were able to harvest twice as much harvest as traditional crops!)
Give a real and purposeful gift by helping us reforest the Bolivian forest. For only 6€, you can do just that. With each new tree, we are able to rebuild this habitat for animals and plants. For an additional 2.50€ (for printing and shipping), you will also receive a Gift Certificate.
